Behind the Mask: CODE RED RIOT martedì, 31 luglio 2018 21:54 by madseason
Code Red Riot - Living Low

Having originated as a cathartic music outlet for Corky Gainsford (formerly of the Century Media signed outfit Otherwise), Code Red Riot are taking audiences by storm with their full-length debut Mask, released last June 29 via Red Music (Sony Music).

Mask is a collection of powerful alternative rock songs that feature anthemic choruses, melodic riffs and soul-searching lyrics balanced on top of a hard-hitting rhythmic groove.

Mask should appeal to fans of early Nickelback, Saliva, Foo Fighters, Devour The Day and all that bands that don't sacrifice musicality for heaviness.

Puzzle Pieces: the return of FRAMING HANLEY sabato, 28 luglio 2018 16:41 by madseason
Framing Hanley - Puzzle Pieces

I'm a little late on this but, as usual, better late than never. Alternative rockers Framing Hanley from Nashville, TN, are back with a new single.

Titled Puzzle Pieces, it was released last June 5 and is a melodic, intense and energetic song that suggests the American act has matured both musically and lyrically. Check it out clicking on the image.

Frontman Kenneth Nixon stated "For the last few years there was a part of me that I was running away from.  When FH ended, I was vocal that 'rock n roll broke my heart.' But the last 6 months I realized that I was just being a bitch and rock n roll was a huge part of my life.  Writing together with Ryan [Belcher, guitar player] again, our sound came back and I knew we had to let fans of FH hear what we had been suppressing. Get ready; this shit is gonna get fun."

Puzzle Pieces is the first single from Framing Hanley's upcoming new album Sumner Roots, to be released in Fall 2018 with Thermal Entertainment.

All the noise of CASTLECOMER mercoledì, 25 luglio 2018 21:48 by madseason
Castlecomer - All Of The Noise

Castlecomer are an Australian band from Sydney consisting of four cousins and a close childhood friend.

The group began playing live during their teenage years and took their band name from a plaque mounted outside their grandfather's house, one they later found out referenced the Irish village his family had emigrated from.

Much like the band's music, their name possesses deep personal meaning while still retaining an air of evocative mystery, hinting at places they've never been but still somehow course through their veins.

After signing with Concord Records, the band took a leap of faith in early 2018 and moved to Nashville: "We wanted to live in a 24/7 music community. As soon we arrived, we discovered that there was live music happening from 1pm onwards in every bloody corner of the place. It was exactly what we needed."

All Of The Noise is the title of the second single off Castlecomer's debut album out October 5. The song was produced by Scott Horscroft (Silverchair, Birds Of Tokyo, Empire Of The Sun) and released a few weeks ago. It's an awesome guitar oriented indie-pop track that should appeal to fans of X Ambassadors, Bastille and Young The Giant. Watch the lyric video now clicking on the image.

Big Mother Gig - Obliterate

Big Mother Gig are a Los Angeles-based/Milwaukee-bred power pop rock band that originally formed in 1992 and returned to the scenes in 2017 after a 20-year hiatus with Almost Primed, an EP of 6 hard-hitting songs praised by the rock press.

Big Mother Gig are releasing their compelling new single, Obliterate, today, July 20.

Grungy enough to please 90's rock addicted, anthemic enough to grant you will sing its chorus out loud, Obliterate is an angst-ridden powerful track inspired by the events in Parkland, FL, that "attempts to understand white American rage and tries to come to terms with this body of the American populace who are teetering on the edge of violence. It's filled with judgement, attempted understanding, lost signals and a lack of redemption as the perpetrator succumbs to handcuffs."

Ghost stories from THE RAMONA FLOWERS martedì, 17 luglio 2018 21:30 by madseason
The Ramona Flowers - Ghost

The five-piece indie-synth group The Ramona Flowers have released a music video for their latest single, Ghost, which reached the Top 30 charts on college radio.

The Ghost music video was directed by Frankie Nasso and shot in the Hamptons, NY. The video portrays the sensation that a past love is still around.

To stick with the ghost theme, the clip reveals the "lost" James Bond Aston Martin DB7. It's filled with little details that make it more meaingful than a band performing in an empty house. It creates a metaphorical match between vision and lyrics. The camera follows a girl that appears to be an apparition throughout the house while the band plays, promoting the lyrics, "it's your face that I see flicker even though you're not around".

Ghost is the new single from The Ramona Flowers' latest album, Strangers: check it out if you still haven't.

Parker Bossley - Chemicals

Parker Bossley is a singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter that was a member of Hot Hot Heat, Gay Nineties and Mounties. He currently co-fronts a band called Fur Trade alongside Hot Hot Heat's singer and founding member Steve Bays.

Chemicals is Parker's debut single as a solo artist. It's an awesome indie-pop song that was produced and mixed by Grammy award-winning record producer Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Walk The Moon, Kaiser Chiefs).

"Chemicals' is me writing about my relationships with drugs and love," says Bossley. "The hook was spawned in my head on the third day of a festival when the drugs just literally didn't work anymore."

The video for Chemicals is released today: maddening and playful, it's is a brief look into the abstract youth's transformative internal landscapes. It was directed by Joseph Wallace, a BAFTA Cymru nominated animation director. Filmed at Hangar Puppet Animation Studio in Bristol, UK, Chemicals is a nod to the highs and lows, and the unsettling yet comforting undulate feelings of an evening where drugs fuel the sunset into a sunrise.

Luna Kiss - You Are

Luna Kiss are an Alternative Rock band from the city of Coventry, UK. Six years on from the release of their acclaimed debut album Echoes Of Sound, Luna Kiss return with a new collection of songs, Following Shadows.

Recorded with esteemed producer and prog legend John Mitchell (Enter Shikari, You Me At Six, Lower Than Atlantis), Following Shadows was released last June 22 via Crow Face Records.
