LIVINGSTON's Fire burns bright lunedì, 23 aprile 2012 23:06 by madseason

One of my favorite album of the the year so far is the sophomore release of the English (but with South African origins) band Livingston.

Titled "Fire To Fire", the new record was produced by three-time Grammy winner David Bottrill (Muse, Placebo, Silverchair, Tool, Fair To Midland) and released through Manta Ray Music/Universal Music and the end of March.

This is a showcase of great, touching, infectious british poprock, with not a dull moment in sight. Catch the single/video "Supernova", for an example, and then preview all the tracks on Livingston's facebook page.

Lit

Lit will release "The View From The Bottom", their first new album in eight years, on June 19th through Megaforce Records. "The View..." is produced by Butch Walker and is going to be Lit's first recording with Nathan Walker on drums, replacing the late Allen Shellenberger, who died from cancer in 2009, as well as their first with guitarist Ryan Gillmor, making it the first time the band has recorded as a five-piece

The first song that Lit unleashed from the new record is "Same Shit, Different Drink": "A.J. and I wrote that one with Butch," guitarist Jeremy Popoff tells Rolling Stone. "We kind of got on this little train of throwing out names of cocktails; we wanted a drinking song that would be a cool party anthem." Download this track for free heading on to the band's website.

feeder

"Children Of The Sun" is the new single from Feeder's upcoming album "Generation Freakshow". It will be released on April 30th as a download and on 7" vinyl.   A rousing call to arms, "Children Of The Sun" harks back to Feeder's most emotive and melodic moments. The single is a powerful reminder that despite making a name for themselves with high-energy rock nuggets, Feeder are equally skilled at crafting poignant, slow-burning anthems. Scissor Sisters are back with studio album number four: "Magic Hour". The new record, described by Jake Shears "a sweet joyful mélange of beat-driven future-pop", was mainly produced by the band and will be out on May 28th through Polydor/Universal.

For "Magic Hour" the band have been working a diverse list of new collaborators, such as Pharrell Williams, Diplo, Alex Rihda (BoysNoize), Azealia Banks and Calvin Harris. This last one co-produced with the Sisters the first single "Only The Horses", to be released on May 13th. Keane

A couple of weeks ago I featured on this columns Keane's brand new single/video "Silenced By The Night", off the band's fourth full-length studio album "Strangeland", to be released on May, 7th via Island Records, with the production of Dan Grech-Marguerat (Radiohead, Moby, The Kooks, Howling Bells, Lana Del Rey).

Now it's time to present you the stunning new video for the lead single chosen for the  German-Austrian-Swiss market: it's called "Disconnected" and was directed by JA Bayona and Sergio G Sanchez with an English-Italian-Spanish-Canadian production. Enjoy it clicking on the image on the left.

EVE6 need another tequila! mercoledì, 18 aprile 2012 00:30 by madseason
eve6

We're just a week away from the release of the much anticipated new album by Eve6 "Speak In Code", and the Californian rockers are releasing a brand new video for the single "Victoria". Watch it now by clicking on the image.

You can still watch the lyric video for another track off the new record, the equally catchy "Lost & Found". Check it out here.

I hope "Speak In Code" will live up the expectations these two songs are generating. If that were the case, it could be the catchiest record of the year!

Rising star: ZANDER BLECK lunedì, 16 aprile 2012 23:30 by madseason
Zander Bleck

Thomas Zander Bleck is an American singer/songwriter signed to Interscope Records. Zander's debut Album "Monument", produced by superstar producers RedOne (Lady Gaga, Usher, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez) and Mutt Lange  (AC/DC, Def Leppard, Shania Twain, Nickelback) will be released later in the year, while the debut singles "Temptation" and "Bring It On" are already out.

Zander wrote first single "Temptation" in Los Angeles with the legendary Holly Knight (who penned hits for Heart, Tina Turner and Pat Benatar). Watch the video clicking on the image.

RedOne has described Zander Bleck as a "mixture of Jim Morrison, Bono, and Freddie Mercury" (phew!), while Zander says about his influences: "I love singers who show a piece of their soul when they sing. Guys like Roger Daltrey, Bono, and Robert Plant. I want my music to capture that soul of rock and roll and fuse it with modern technology to create something entirely new."
