Notes
The previous "The '59 Sound", although a nice album, did not particularly impressed me, the many overly positive reviews seemed a little pretentious to me. Well, I was wrong: with this new CD, once again produced by Ted Hutt (Flogging Molly and producer for Jesse Malin, Audra Mae and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, among the others), the four boys from New Brunswick show all their talent, making up an album that has all the credentials to enter my 2010 Top10. Compared to the previous album, I find that there is a further determination (also in Brian Fallon's way of singing) and, at the same time, it contains most memorable urgent melodies.
They learnt the lessons of the great of the past and managed to create their own sound being inspired by the Clash and, especially, by the typical Bruce Springsteen's Jersey Shore Sound.
Captivating choruses, successful melodies and exuberant rhythms follow each other: songs like "The Spirit Of Jazz", "Old Haunts" and "The Diamond Church Street Choir" seem to be taken from some old Boss' records, mixed with the attitude of Joe Strummer and spat out with an all new energy.
A piece of advice: for your next on-the-road trip, bring "American Slang" with you, it will be an excellent fellow traveller, you will not regret.

Next August 18th, The Gaslight Anthem will be in concert in Brescia at Radio Onda D'Urto Festival.
