The first surprise of the new year comes from Two Places At Once, a very interesting new band formed in 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, by Victor Barbosa (drums), Renan Rocha (vocals and guitars), Juan Salinas (bass) and Rodrigo Soares (guitar), with an intention to mix different musical genres: Alternative Rock, Progressive Rock, Pop Rock, Metal.

The influences of the band range from Pink Floyd to Oasis, from Black Sabbath to Deftones. The compositions and the lyrics of the four guys reflect those influences and can be delicate and touching, or more aggressive and heavy.

Two Places At Once debuted in March 2014 with the EP Different Selves, but it's the debut full-length album Birdtraps that's putting the Brazilians on the international music map. Birdtraps was produced by Elton Bozza and released last Wednesday, January 13, on Dull Dog Records.
