Casualties Of Cool is a new band consisting of Canadian multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer Devin Townsend and Vancouver born vocalist Ché Aimee Dorval.
Their self-titled debut was released this week and was partially funded by a crowdfunding campaign via PledgeMusic.
I like to define the style of the album as progressive country rock, as Devin is pushing the boundaries of the folk genre with his histrionic songwriting. On his blog, Townsend stated "Casualties Of Cool sounds like haunted Johnny Cash songs. Late night music, completely isolated sounding and different than anything I've done. Che sings most of the leads, and it's probably the truest reflection of who I am in life at this point."
Have a taste of the original sound of Casualties Of Cool listening to the album tracks "Moon" and "Forgive Me".
