SEMI PRECIOUS WEAPONS return with Aviation Wednesday, 7 May 2014 21:45 by madseason
Semi Precious Weapons - Aviation

Semi Precious Weapons is a band from New York City that makes high-energy rock influenced by both '70s glitter rock and '80s dance-punk.

"Aviation" is their third studio album; it was released last April 22 via RedZone Records and features the production of Christopher "Tricky" Stewart (Beyoncé, Rihanna, Frank Ocean). It's more of an alternative pop-rock record, if compared with the previous works of the band, whilst keeping a glam-rock flare and versatility.

THE TREWS release great new album Monday, 5 May 2014 21:45 by madseason
The Trews - The Trews

Album number 5 for Canadian rockers The Trews. The band released their self-titled new album a couple of weeks ago (April 22) via Bumstead Records - Home Music Company; it debuted at #1 on the Canadian Hard Rock, Alternative and Indie Album Charts and was the 3rd overall best selling album in the country. Not bad!

"The Trews" was recorded at Noble Street Studios, Toronto, with Gavin Brown (Metric, Three Days Grace, Billy Talent and many more) handling production duties and Lenny Derose engineering and mixing the album.

If compared to the band's previous stuff, the sound of "The Trews" is slightly less hard and more classic, think of Pearl Jam going heartland rock or a grittier version of Ingram Hill.

Watch the lyric video for the album's leading single "What's Fair Is Fair" here and stream this amazing, highly enjoyable record on SoundCloud.

Morning Parade - Alienation

As some of you may remember, last year English indie-rock band Morning Parade put out the EP "Alienation", featuring four songs from their second album. The album, titled "Pure Adulterated Joy", will finally see the light of day next week, May 6, via SO Recordings - Silva Screen Records.

Morning Parade released the official video for the wonderful single "Alienation" last month; it's directed by Canadian director, editor, animator and cinematographer Christopher Mills (Modest Mouse, Interpol, Metric, Breaking Benjamin) and you can watch it clicking on the frame above.

Also, watch the video for the acoustic rendition of "Reality Dream" here and get a preview of "Pure Adulterated Joy" streaming the "Alienation" ep on SoundCloud following this link.

Rising stars: FINISH TICKET Thursday, 1 May 2014 16:02 by madseason
Finish Ticket - Bring The Rain EP

A new and really interesting band: San Francisco-based quartet Finish Ticket make melodic music that straddles the line between indie rock and radio-ready pop. Formed in 2008 while the bandmembers were attending Alameda High School near San Francisco, Finish Ticket features the talents of lead singer/keyboardist Brendan Hoye, guitarist/vocalist Alex DiDonato, bassist Michael Hoye, and drummer Gabe Stein.

Finish Ticket's debut album "Tears You Apart" was independently released last year. The band then signed a deal with F-Stop Music, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records, that will re-release the album on May 20.

Thanks to NoiseTrade, you can download for free the "Bring The Rain EP", that features 4 tracks from "Tears You Apart". Go get it clicking on the image above, expecially if you're a fan of Young The Giant, The Mowgli’s and fun. Great stuff.

Crossing The Bridge with GRAFFITI6 Tuesday, 29 April 2014 23:23 by madseason
Graffiti6 - The Bridge

I wasn't expecting a new album by the great pop-rock/soul/psychedelic/dance/adult contemporary duo Graffiti6, so the release of "The Bridge" caught me by surprise.

Singer/songwriter Jamie Scott and writer/producer/DJ Tommy Danvers put out their sophomore full-lenth record last week (April 21) and, as for the debut album "Colours", it's an assorted collection of highly addictive songs.

Stream "The Bridge" on Spotify clicking on the cover of the album.

EMERSON HART releases new solo album Sunday, 27 April 2014 17:04 by madseason
Emerson Hart - The Best That I Can Give

Emerson Hart, the lead singer and songwriter of the great alternative rock band Tonic (check their first 3 studio albums if you still haven't), released his second solo full-length "Beauty In Disrepair" on April 15 via BMG Masters.

The new record, produced by David Hodges (Evanescence, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Perri, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood) is another amazing collection of well-crafted, emotional pop/pop-rock songs with some folk traces here and there. Hart has mentioned in interviews that his songs reflect something he's lived through, and while his solo debut "Cigarettes And Gasoline" dealt more with rocky relationships and personal struggles, "Beauty In Disrepair" reflects Hart's picking up the pieces and moving on, learning, and happiness re-evolving.

The first single off the new album is "The Best That I Can Give": watch the video now clicking on the image above.

Love Without Fear: DAN WILSON Friday, 25 April 2014 17:08 by madseason
Dan Wilson - Love Without Fear

Dan Wilson is one of the best pop singer/songwriter around. He reached commercial success with his band Semisonic (remember the wonderful and huge hit "Closing Time"?) between the end of the 90's and the beginning of the new century and wrote songs for such artists as Adele (3 songs for her "21" album, including "Someone Like You"), Paloma Faith, Dixie Chicks, Jason Mraz, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Rivers Cuomo, Pink and many more.

Dan Wilson released his third solo album "Love Without Fear" on Ballroom Music via Kobalt Label Services last week (April 14). As Rick Rubin said about Dan's first album "Free Life", "he is/has the perfect combination of inspiration and songcraft. He is a timeless artist whose music will feel as good in 50 years as it does today". "Love Without Fear" is an excellent album that you can't miss if you like pop/pop-rock with a touch of Americana.
