  • Release date: May 15, 2010
  • Label: Sire Records / WEA International
  • Producer: John Fields

  • Style: Pop Rock, Power Pop, Modern Rock
  • Related bands: Butch Walker, Marvelous 3, Avril Lavigne, Pink

[voto: 4]

Intro
Former guitarist and best friend of Avril Lavigne, Evan Taubenfeld begins his solo artist career with a digital release of well-made power pop.

Best tracks
Pumpkin Pie, Boy Meets Girl, Razorblade Limeade, Cheater Of The Year

Notes
Waiting for the pop punk princess to bring out her fourth album, let's enjoy the debut of the guy who stood side by side in Avril's first two albums and wrote songs like "Don't Tell Me" and "Hot".
Evan Taubenfeld must have learned a lot from the hit-maker Butch Walker, his compositions have a similar style to those of the author of several Avril Lavigne and Pink hits, and he prefers to focus more on his pop vein and leaving out the punkish.
Songwriter Kevin Kadish (Jason Mraz, Meat Loaf, Gloriana ...) and producer John Fields (Switchfoot, Jimmy Eat World, Goo Goo Dolls ...) are two important pieces to the success of this album: the first one because he co-wrote almost all the tracks, the second because, according to the same Evan, "he added lots of sounds, textures, and parts that I never would have thought of". However, I think a bit more powerful guitar and a harder production would have helped the success of the album and would have served as a rival attraction to a little aggressive voice.
The songs follow each other in a very smooth way and sunny songs such as "Pumpkin Pie" (with an irresistible riff ala Mick Ronson), the anthem "Boy Meets Girl" and "Cheater Of The Year" are right for this Summer on arrival.
It's true, these tracks are not the most original but they are memorable, funny and with the right determination!
"... It's like a Shout at the Devil meets a careless whisper ..."

[voto: 4][EN]

Intro

Best tracks
Pumpkin Pie, Boy Meets Girl, Razorblade Limeade, Cheater Of The Year

Notes

Waiting for the release of the second album, let's listen again to the 2008 debut from these five New York guys.

Best tracks
Pimp My Life, Where'd All The Scene Girls Go, Everybody Hates Me, Solid Gold, Closer Is Better

Notes
There are artists and records that should deserve more airplay, but it's unbelievable like, in the internet age when you can easily find almost anything, sometimes it is hard to get together info about them.
This is the event of the first, and the only, album by the Crash Moderns. They play a fresh and catchy power pop that draws inspiration from the best of this genre, but they never yield to trite plagiarisms.
The band's major reference points are The Cars and Cheap Trick for the classic side of their sound, while Butch Walker and his Marvelous 3 are their muse for the modern side.
The singer Danny Roselle is also the main songwriter and his talent is undeniable: not only one moment of yielding in these eleven tracks even if, maybe, the shortness of the album is helpful.
"Pimp My Life", of which you may see a video, has had its fifteen minutes of fame as soundtrack of the blockbuster movie "The Rocker"'s trailer.
Nowadays, the Crash Moderns keep on playing live, also with bands as Bowling For Soup, The Ataris and Lifehouse. And we keep on waiting for the release of the new album, of which we had the chance to listen to a preview a few months ago with their EP "In Case You're Listening".

Band

  • Danny Roselle - vocals, guitars
  • Tommy Eichmann – keyboards, vocals
  • Mikey Vranek - guitars
  • Greg Wirbickas - drums
  • Anthony Costa - bass, vocals

Tracklist

  • 01. This Time   (D. Roselle) 3:21
  • 02. Pimp My Life   (D. Roselle, J. Matias) 3:28
  • 03. Where'd All The Scene Girls Go   (D. Roselle, T. Eichmann) 2:57
  • 04. Everybody Hates Me   (D. Roselle) 3:20
  • 05. Notice Me   (D. Roselle) 4:02
  • 06. Solid Gold   (D. Roselle, T. Eichmann) 3:04
  • 07. We've Got Tonite   (D. Roselle, J. Matias) 2:45
  • 08. Make It Stop   (D. Roselle, J. Matias) 3:04
  • 09. Hello World   (D. Roselle, J. Matias) 3:06
  • 10. Be All That   (D. Roselle, J. Matias) 2:55

Intro

Best tracks
Pimp My Life, Where'd All The Scene Girls Go, Everybody Hates Me, Solid Gold, Closer Is Better

Notes

Best tracks
Anywhere You Go, Tragically Beautiful

Notes
Stay tuned!

Intro
This EP includes four tracks that will be part of the upcoming album of the NYC powerpop band.

Best tracks
Anywhere You Go, Tragically Beautiful

Notes
We may consider this EP like a preview of what the new cd by The Crash Moderns will be; the five guys confirm their properties, releasing four strong and energetic powerpop tracks influenced by the classic american band of this genre together with a certain Britannic synth wave so fashionable nowadays, and proposed with a glam verve that brings us back to the Hanoi Rocks attitude.
In my opionion, though, none of the four compositions from this surely worthy EP could be a potential hit single in the current music market. Anyway, I hope I am wrong and the new album will have a strong feedback from the audience. Stay tuned!
