MGT - Knowing Me Knowing You feat. Ville Valo

Mark Gemini Thwaite, known with his acronym MGT, is by no means a new kid in town: he's in the business since the early Eighties and has been the guitarist for a number of rock bands and artists over the last two decades, including The Mission, Tricky, Peter Murphy (of Bauhaus), National Velvet, plus various live and recorded appearances with Revolting Cocks, Gary Numan, Roger Daltrey, P.J. Harvey, Alanis Morissette, Ricky Warwick, Ginger of The Wildhearts, Ville Valo of HIM and many more.

What's new is Mark's debut solo album, Volumes, released worlwide through SPV Records. The album was mixed by no less than Tim Palmer (David Bowie, Robert Plant, Pearl Jam, U2, Ozzy, Blue October) and features a plethora of guest musicians, as Ville Valo, who sings on the leading single and cover of the Abba track Knowing Me Knowing You, Julianne Regan (of All About Eve), Ricky Warwick (The Almighty, Thin Lizzy), Miles Hunt (of The Wonder Stuff), Wayne Hussey (The Mission) to name a few.

Albums of guitar players tend to be self-indulgent: it's not the case of Volumes, as MGT put its skills at the service of the songs, creating a collection of emotional tracks, mixing amazing modern pop-rock music with goth atmospheres.

As examples, you can try the aforementioned Knowing Me Knowing You (click on the image to watch the video), or the new single You Can't Go Back (To Once Upon A Time) featuting Miles Hunt on vocals (watch the video here), or, maybe, The Reaping, with Ashton Nyte of The Awakening on vocals.

And, of course, you can always stream the whole album on Spotify to get the complete aural experience.
