THE WILD FEATHERS: Sirens Friday, 4 October 2024 18:30 by madseason
The Wild Feathers, Sirens

How would you define The Wild Feathers? Some may immediately check a box for Americana –and they wouldn't be wrong. Others may lean on a version of rock: country-rock, folk-rock, heartland rock. They'd all be right, too. Blues? A Southern flare? Occasional punk attitude? It's all in there. Now, it's time to hop on the bus and sing along.

The longtime Nashville band returns this year with Sirens, a new LP of road-worn, sharply-woven tales chronicling a life worth living, love worth holding and the hard-earned lessons found along the ride.

"As a band, we feel like Sirens has captured the musicality of the band more than any other record. In a time where there are very few bands in general, this album sounds like 5 people creating a collective vibe. Where each member has moments to shine and can't be replicated without the time, place and personnel"

To cut the follow-up to 2021 album Alvarado –the band's debut on independent label New West Records– The Wild Feathers decamped from Music City, U.S.A., to Los Angeles for sessions with producer Shooter Jennings (known for his work with Brandi Carlile, Turnpike Troubadours and Tanya Tucker, among others) at Dave's Room in North Hollywood.

Listen intently and without genre in mind. Because when the so-called Sirens make their sound on this new album, don't worry about how to define it. Just enjoy the ride.

The Wild Feathers - Overnight

American rockers from Nashville The Wild Feathers are back with a brand new song, Overnight: it's a wonderful, catchy, anthemic, modern melodic rock song, so check it now watching the relative video (click on the image on the left).

Overnight is the first single off the upcoming second album Lonely Is A Lifetime, to be released on Warner Bros. early next year.

"This has been a long time coming and we're so happy to finally share some new music with you!" says the band introducing the new single. "We've spent the better part of this year working our asses off on our new record and can't wait for everyone to hear it!"

The Wild Feathers

The Wild Feathers from Austin, TX, debuted last year with one of the best classic-sounding rock records of 2013, with a couple of singles that gained heavy rotation on American radios.

The band spent most of the year on the road, but that didn't stop them from releasing new songs: here's the cover of Canadian singer-songwriter Indio's hit-song from 1989 "Hard Sun", recorded live during a session for SiriusXM. Enjoy.

By the way, The Wild Feathers won the SiriusXM Best of 2013 Listener Poll for The Spectrum Best Song Discovery for "The Ceiling": congratulations!

"They're like if Led Zeppelin & The Band had a baby in Joshua Tree that grew up listening to Ryan Adams covering the Stones 70's country influenced songs": this is the intro to Austin's The Wild Feathers bio. This five-piece mix elements of rock, country, folk, blues, southern, Americana in a personal and fresh way.

Their debut self-titled album, produced in Nashville by Jay Joyce (Cage The Elephant, The Wallflowers, Little Big Town), drops tomorrow on Warner Bros Records and includes the singles "Backwoods Company", "The Ceiling" and "Hard Wind" (click on the titles to watch videos).

RollingStone's website is premiering the album with the streaming of all the songs, so don't miss the chance to get into one of the most interesting band of the genre.
