THE KILLERS debut Miss Atomic Bomb video martedì, 11 dicembre 2012 23:50 by madseason
"Miss Atomic Bomb" is the second single off The Killers' new album "Battle Born". The song was inspired by the 1950s nuclear testing parties, where crowds watched above-ground nuclear tests in the Nevada desert through sunglasses. There was even a beauty pageant, which lead to the iconic photograph of the winning "Miss Atomic Bomb" clad in a mushroom cloud-shaped bathing suit.
Brandon Flowers told the backstory of the song to NME: "It's a beautiful picture of this woman in the desert. I think she's still alive.

I met Bernie Taupin for the first time and I felt like he was giving me a little bit of advice. He didn't say much to me, just asked, "Do you like titles?" And I started thinking about Elton John songs, and found out Bernie wrote the titles first. Like "Mona Lisa and Mat Hatters" or "Candle In The Wind", it's already epic."

Flowers had the phrase "Miss Atomic Bomb" rattling in his brain, and he decided to tie the song into "Mr. Brightside" revisiting the characters of the Hot Fuss classic. This, he told NME, made it "very easy for me to write".

Flowers revealed to UK newspaper The Sun that this song was originally rejected by one of the album's producers. "For a while, it got dismissed by one particular producer -I'll leave him unnamed but the demo was shut away for three months" he explained. "Yes, we took that personally, and one day I was at home on the computer going through some demos, came across it again and thought: "WHAT are we doing? It could even be a single and be brought to life on film". So we resurrected it".
So, almost a decade later, the cast of the "Mr. Brightside" clip was reunited fot the live action parts of the "Miss Atomic Bomb" video. Click on the image above and enjoy it!.

The Killers new Christmas song, "I Feel It In My Bones", is their 7th consecutive single in support of World AIDS Day and it will be available via iTunes on December 04, with all proceeds from the song's sales benefiting the (RED) organization's global fight against AIDS.

The song was recorded by the band on a day off during their U.K. tour and features  Ryan "The Captain" Pardey -actor, singer and songwriter from Las Vegas- on vocals. Ryan is better known for performing the role of Santa in The Killers' video for the second Christmas single "Don't Shoot Me Santa".

We're all just Runaways for THE KILLERS martedì, 10 luglio 2012 22:23 by madseason
The Killers

The Killers premiered their brand new, much awaited single "Runaways" today: the song is the first to be lifted from their fourth studio album, titled "Battle Born" and set to be released on September, 18 through Island Records.

"Battle Born" is also the name of the band's studio and a nickname for their home state: Nevada became a state during the US Civil War, that is where the nick comes from. "In a sense, all Americans are battle born. Our ancestors came here for something better" said frontman Brandon Flowers.

A series of big producers worked on the new record, including Madonna collaborator Stuart Price, Steve Lillywhite, Damian Taylor, Brendan O'Brien and Daniel Lanois. Phew...

The knob-wiz behind the new single "Runaways" is Mr. Lillywhite. The song is a typical The Killers' heartland   rocker that fans of the band will enjoy for sure: listen to it clicking on the cover pic above.

Mark Stoermer

Last year was Brandon Flowers' turn, last summer was Ronnie Vannucci's time (with his project Big Talk), this autumn is the moment for The Killers' bass player Mark Stoermer to release a record outside the main band.

What's really exciting is that Mark has made available "Another Life", his self released album, as a free download for a limited time. A limited pressing of Vinyl and CD's will follow.

All you have to do to secure your digital copy of "Another Life" is heading to Mark's website and click on Download. Simple as that!

THE KILLERS update lunedì, 10 ottobre 2011 18:21 by madseason
I was listening to the Deluxe Version of Brandon Flowers' solo album "Flamingo" (a little jewel, if you ask me) that I bought for cheap on Amazon last week, when I realized that I haven't had an update on The Killers front on my blog yet.

Well, the guys are in a studio in Nashville working on the follow up to the highly successful "Day & Age" with super-famed producer Brendan O'Brien. The new album is tentatively titled "Battle Born" and will see the light of day early next year. According to Brandon, the sound will be more guitar oriented, "real rock music". Can't wait!

The Killers will be featured on a U2 cover cd, assembled by Q Magazine to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the release of "Achtung Baby". The song chosen by Flowers & Co. is "Ultraviolet (Light My Way)". The album, also featuring Snow Patrol, Depeche Mode, Damien Rice, The Fray, Patti Smith and more, is titled "AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered" and will be included free in the magazine's October 25th issue.
