Bad Seed Rising - Fighting Gravity

Bad Seed Rising, the youngest band in history to sign to Roadrunner Records, will release their full-length debut album Awake In Color next September, 30.

The alternative rock band from Baltimore, MD, released two of EPs in the last couple of years -2014's Charm City and 2015's A Place Called Home- and toured as opening act for Halestorm, Daughtry, 3 Doors Down, I Prevail and performed on the Full Sail stage at this year’s Van's Warped Tour.

Awake In Color was produced by Drew Fulk (Motionless In White, Crown The Empire. Fear Factory), and already spawned two singles, I Can Feel You and Fighting Gravity. The second one, in particular, is the best song written by Francheska Pastor & Co. so far. Watch the just released official video clicking on the image now.

A Boy Named John - So We Live | So We Die

So We Live | So We Die is New Jersey band A Boy Named John's first full length album. After the release of their debut EP Or So It Seems, the boys started writing for this album back in 2014 and worked persistently to develop a new sound of their own. Each member contributed to this album lyrically and musically in order to bring forth a work that expresses a collective personality.

After the completion of writing the album, A Boy Named John began recording the album in April 2015 at Barber Shop Studies in Hopatcong, NJ with producer/engineer Kevin Kumetz (With the Punches, I Am The Avalanche, Head North). Soon after the album was recorded and then mastered by Michael White (Rolling Stones, Whitney Houston) A Boy Named John worked independently to release the album.

In August 2015, ABNJ dropped their first single, Please Excuse The Acronym and received a great amount of hype. Then in December of 2015, they released their highly anticipated song, Don't Kill The Messenger following their show with The Academy Is at Starland Ballroom. In January of 2016, the guys headed out for their first tour along the east coast and began to build buzz for the album. A few months after the tour, they put out their next single and first music video Sir Rock and received even more attention and created an explosion of excitement for the band's album.

On June 24th 2016 A Boy Named John released So We Live | So We Die, an album containing songs with theatrical elements, powerful messages, and groundbreaking instrumentals: something that could get the attention of My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco, Bayside and Pierce The Veil fans. Stream the full-length debut of this young and promising band on Spotify.

Brand New Moves of HEY VIOLET Monday, 22 August 2016 21:27 by madseason
Hey Violet - Brand New Moves

Hey Violet is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, consisting of Rena Lovelis (bass/lead vocals), Miranda Miller (rhythm guitar/keyboard/vocals), Nia Lovelis (drums/vocals) and Casey Moreta (lead guitar).

Formed in 2008 as Cherri Bomb while its members were still in middle school, the band was originally all-female, consisting of Miller, the Lovelis sisters and lead singer Julia Pierce. In 2013, Pierce left the band and was later replaced by Moreta. In 2015, the band changed their name to Hey Violet, and later on signed to Hi or Hey Records, 5 Seconds Of Summer's partnership of Capitol Records.

Brand New Moves is the title of the new EP, released last week and featuring 3 song, plus 2 alternative versions of the title track: Brand New Moves -the song- is a great, catchy, funky alternative rock/pop rock tune that reminds me of Some Like It Hot by Power Station (remember them?) and Let's Dance by David Bowie (watch the video clicking on the image); Fuqboi is a futile teeny pop-rock song a la early Avril Lavigne; Pure is more interesting than the previous one: an hazy, synth-driven track that sounds like a cross between Blondie and Eighth Wonder.

I will follow Hey Violet's next steps in the business for sure. Meanwhile, I'm inviting you to stream Brand New Moves on Spotify.

HEIRSOUND merging styles on debut EP Saturday, 20 August 2016 15:30 by madseason
Heirsound - Slow Motion

Heirsound is an American Alternative Pop duo, formed by Alexa San Román and Dane Petersen (formerly of Love, Robot).

The duo independently released its debut 6-track EP, titled Merge, last August 5. it's a brilliant mini-album, with a sound somewhere between Lana Del Rey and Florence + The Machine.

Each song on Merge is represented by a color that has an aura and a feeling, creating the color wheel. Heirsound is releasing a slew of music videos produced by San Román herself, each with the corresponding color as the theme. Watch the video for the single Slow Motion clicking on the image and check the other clips on the Youtube channel of the band.

"This EP represents to us both the collaboration of two artists from different hometowns, as well as a metaphorical bridge from both of our older bands' previous sounds to what Heirsound. As our old bands were more heavily rock-influenced, this EP has both elements of that as well as more electronic sounds letting long-time fans ease into this new sound" said the duo about Merge.

Stream the whole EP on SoundCloud and if you like what you hear, buy it on iTunes.

FOXTRAX: out of The Cabin into the starlight Wednesday, 17 August 2016 19:20 by madseason
FOXTRAX - The Cabin

Another new band that could become huge soon: FOXTRAX -Ben Schneid and brothers Jon and Jared Stenz- is an Alternative Pop/Pop Rock band from Long Island, New York, now based In Los Angeles.

Though the three guys have been together for a relatively short time, forming as a band in early 2015, they have just delivered a surprisingly mature debut EP, The Cabin.

FOXTRAX spent six weeks writing and recording demos for what would eventually become The Cabin EP in a cabin in the woods of North Carolina a year and a half ago (that's where the title comes from). In February of this year, producer/engineer Ben Roulston (Wolf Alice, Florence + the Machine, Marc Almond) heard the tracks from the EP and after reaching out to the band, aided the production with a fresh mix. Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, Cage The Elephant, The Black Keys) also connected with the band's sound and completed the EP with a professional master.

The EP release show at New York's Mercury lounge was a sell-out and their infectiously catchy debut single Underwater was #1 on Apple's "New Artist Spotlight" and was also featured on SiriusXm's Alt. Nation channel "Advanced Placement" show.

Talking about their sound, FOXTRAX have been compared to bands like Kings Of Leon, The Killers and Coldplay. I would add British band Keane: take for example the EP's opener Go It Alone and tell me if it doesn't sound like a mix of Keane and alternative/indietronic act Foster The People (with a touch of Under The Influence Of Giants too)!

However, this is an awesome mini-album from start to finish: stream it on SoundCloud and judge by yourselves.

VYNCE, an indie-pop band to look for Monday, 15 August 2016 21:00 by madseason
VYNCE - Lust

This is an EP released last April 1, that I only had the opportunity to get a few days ago. I'm talking of Lust, the new EP of VYNCE, a 4-piece indie-pop band from the Wirral, UK.

VYNCE take musical influence from bands like The Cure and Foals, combining their frenetic guitars with the bold, pop melodies of bands like Oasis and Stone Roses.

The Lust EP features only three tracks, but are 3 really catchy, melodic and hummable songs that you have absolutely to listen to if you're into the genre.

Stream Lust on Soundcloud clicking on the image and let me know what you think of these Brits.

My Ending Reign - When Heartache Collides

Another promising band from down under: My Ending Reign is an alternative/hard rock band from Australia, influenced by You Me At Six, Papa Roach, 30 Seconds To Mars and Bring Me The Horizon.

These boys are on a mission to prove to the world that live music is well and truely alive. The band spent most of 2015 writing and demoing tracks, and on July 31 of this year they released their self-titled debut EP.
The EP features 4 tracks and includes the single When Heartache Collides: watch the lyric video for the song clicking on the image and stream the whole EP on Spotify.
