SCOUT Pi giovedì, 1 dicembre 2011 17:13 by madseason
scout

Scout is an very good indie rock band from New York, led by vocalist/songwriter Ashen Keilyn that, for the new album, has deconstructed her band and put it back together piece-by-piece -new players, new producers and, most importantly, the best songs of Keilyn's career (according to her... I will let you know).

The album's been recorded by Jim Eno (3 tracks) and Steve Schiltz, mainman of rock band Hurricane Bells, and recorded in the same basement studio (Ole Recording) where HB's new record, "Tides And Tales" was done.

Scout's new album "All Those Relays" will be out early next year through Invisible Brigades.

The first single "Please Excuse Me" is included in the new EP "Pi", released last tuesday. The EP also features another track from the upcoming album, "Under Attack", a cover of Guided By Voices' "Game Of Pricks" and one unreleased track, "Songs To Strangers".
Listen (and buy it if you care) to the whole EP at the bandcamp site of their label.

matthew mayfield

I'd like to speak one more time of Matthew Mayfield, the American singer-songwriter from Birmingham, Alabama, former lead singer of alternative rock band Moses Mayfield.

After releasing a bunch of very interesting EPs, Matthew has debuted last April with his first full-length solo record, "Now You're Free". If you check back to my previous posts (just click on the Matthew Mayfield tag under this post), you can find the links to the three videos made for the singles from the album.

Now Matthew, in partnership with NoiseTrade, is giving you a new opportunity to download "Now You're Free" at no cost (he should rename it "Now It's Free"). If you still don't own this record, please make up for this situation now. Just click on the image on the left and follow the easy instructions.

Upcoming live release by WATER & BODIES domenica, 27 novembre 2011 17:48 by madseason
water & bodies

Water & Bodies is an interesting american rock band from Portland, that mixes an indie rock vibe with the smooth sounds of the late 70's/early 80's and the passion and raw hooks of the 90's.

Water & Bodies released their first full-length album "Light Year" last February. The record was completely funded via a Kickstarter campaign, without the assistance of a label.

The band will release early next year a live DVD filmed in August in their homeland. Clicking on the image, you can watch a video from the DVD, for the song "Already Gone". For further info, head on Water & Bodies' website, where you can also download a track for free.

Help STARS GO DIM and Convoy of Hope sabato, 26 novembre 2011 14:18 by madseason
stars go dim

Stars Go Dim are an american pop rock band from Tulsa, Oklahoma. They released a brilliant new EP called "Between Here And Now" last month.

Last summer the band had the opportunity to visit Haiti with "Convoy of Hope" and experience first hand the ongoing relief efforts since the tragic earthquake in 2010: an experience that has changed their lives forever. During their short stay in Haiti, Stars Go Dim filmed a music video for the title-track of the new EP.

"This song is about finding hope in the face of tragedy and that very moment when life becomes reality" the band said.

"The video contains footage from other tragedy stricken areas of the world where Convoy of Hope has provided their services. We filmed our parts in the ruins of one of Haiti's oldest structures, a 1800's cathedral and also at a several orphanages that Convoy of Hope supports".
In the spirit of giving, help the band support Convoy of Hope's ongoing relief efforts by donating to them directly or downloading the "Between Here and Now" single and/or album. See how you can help via stars Go Dim clicking on the image above. And don't forget to watch the video!
BLACK LAB's acoustic cd is coming venerdì, 25 novembre 2011 16:15 by madseason
black lab

Great californian alternative rock band Black Lab have just announced that their new album "Black Lab Unplugged" is now available for pre-order.

This is the band's first acoustic album, featuring unplugged versions of 13 Black Lab favorites as well as 3 new songs.

"Breaking the songs down into pieces and then building them back using piano, acoustic guitar, cello, hand percussion and trap kit, we taught ourselves a new way of working and are strangely pleased about their mesmerizing new forms" says mainman Paul Durham, "focused on the songs and what minimal embellishment would best serve them, we drilled down to the core of each one and gave it new life, bringing the acoustic versions we play live directly to you".

You can pre-order the new album here and get instant access to all 16 songs via mp3 download. From this page you can also download a free teaser of "Unplugged", the first track "Remember". Pre-ordered CDs will go out next Tuesday, the day the album officially goes on sale.
