A SILENT FILM about Sand & Snow sabato, 4 agosto 2012 23:59 by madseason
A Silent Film

One of the best album of the year so far is "Sand & Snow", the sophomore offering by Oxford, UK outfit A Silent Film, released last June via Creative Media Investments.

Produced by the band and mixed by Catherine Marks (Placebo, Interpol, White Lies) with Alan Moulder (Depeche Mode, The Killers, Lostprophets, Foo Fighters and many more), "Sand & Snow" features a charming sound that combines elements of Keane, Snow Patrol and The Killers.

New Zealand singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Phillipa Margaret Ladyhawke Brown released her second solo album "Anxiety" last May through Modular Records/Universal.

Comparing the new record with the her previous one, Ladyhawke said that "Anxiety" "is a lot more rocky. The tone of it is definitely darker. It's still poppy and fun, but I listened to a lot of guitar rock when I was writing it, stuff like Pixies, Blur, Nirvana and I've always wanted to make a guitar record."

Philipa has just released a new video for the third single from "Anxiety", "Blue Eyes". Watch it now clicking on the image.

alanis morissette

Here's the video for "Guardian", Alanis Morissette's first single off her new studio album, "Havoc And Bright Lights", to be released on August 28.

This is what Analis said about the video: "This video is a tip of the hat to Wim Wenders' Wings Of Desire. The full circle poetry of my having written "Uninvited" for its remake, combined with my love of the original movie, combined with my love of Germany, combined most importantly with how this video is such a visual extension of the song "Guardian"... I think it really shows how the parent/guardian angel roles are linked."
