Help VERTICAL HORIZON create their new album! martedì, 1 novembre 2011 22:45 by madseason
vertical horizon

Glorious american rock band Vertical Horizon started a PledgeMusic campaign to have the fans help them make a new record: "Through this campaign we'll let you in on what happens during the creation of a VH record. You'll go behind the scenes with us as we toil away. You'll also have the chance to purchase limited edition VH posters, t-shirts, handwritten lyrics jotted down by Matt personally, a VH concert in the middle of your own living room, a limited edition vinyl of the new album, and all sorts of other fun things. All of your pledges will go towards the recording, production and distribution of our upcoming album that we plan on releasing in early 2012".  For further info and to make your pledge, visit Vertical Horizon's PledgeMusic page clicking on the image on the left and do the right thing to support a truly great band!

CYNIC-Based Anatomy domenica, 30 ottobre 2011 23:45 by madseason
cynic carbon based anatomy

For the few of you who don't know these great musicians from Miami, FL, I can say that Cynic are a progressive rock band, incorporating experimental music, ambient, alternative rock, metal and jazz fusion. Formed by guitarist (and now singer) Paul Masvidal and drummer Sean Reinert, they emerged from the healthy (at the time) floridian death metal scene of the late 80's-early 90's with a noteworthy debut record called "Focus" (that also featured the great bass player Sean Malone). Instead of choosing the brutal and hard-hitting approach to metal like most of their contemporaries, "Focus" took an experimental approach to music, resulting in a critically praised "jazz metal" (as they called it at the time) album.   Cynic disbanded during the fall of 1994 while working on a second studio album, to reform in 2006 and record a second full-lenght  ("Traced In Air", 2008) and an EP ("Re-Traced", 2009, composed of four re-interpretations of songs from "Traced In Air" and one new song).

And here they are once again with a new EP called "Carbon-Based Anatomy", where Masvidal and Reinert reunited with Sean Malone to work on six new tracks. Artwork was done by great artist Roberto Venosa, responsible for all previous Cynic covers. Sadly, Venosa passed away short before the release of the EP.
Always hard to pigeonhole, Cynic have once again unleashed their creativity to go beyond the boundaries of the genres, and realize an atmospheric and experimental, yet enjoyble, progressive piece of Art. Paul Masvidal describes the new work as "both a philosophical as well as a musical journey, one that begins in the Amazon jungle on the lips of a shamanic wisewoman (as portrayed by Amy Correia - co-vocalist on the ep) and ends in outerspace".
The album will be out on November, 11th on Season Of Mist Records. Listen to the title-track (a reinterpretation of an older unreleased Æon Spoke single, "Homosapien") at this link.
News, news again... sabato, 29 ottobre 2011 17:45 by madseason
Another round of updates about the last two week's most interesting news. This time I begin with american singer/songwriter from Oklahoma City Graham Colton. After releasing "Pacific Coast Eyes" in April, he has just made available a re-release of the album, simply called "Pacific Coast Eyes Vol. 2", featuring 3 new tracks and 3 alternate versions of songs included in the first edition. These are Graham's words: "I am now a #9 "new and noteworthy" artist on iTunes, as well as #16 on the chart! That is amazing for me since I feel like, I'm at a place where I'm reinvigorating my old fans, finding new ones and trying to "reinvent" myself, and it just all seems so organic and more than anything, its just gratifying". If you haven't already done it, watch the video for the single/title-track from "Pacific Coast Eyes" here.
David Crowder*Band's first radio & digital single from their final record "Give Us Rest or (a requiem mass in c [the happiest of all keys])" (phew!) is available now. "Let Me Feel You Shine" can be previewd and downloaded on iTunes. The christian band will release their seventh studio album on January 10th, through sixstepsrecords/Sparrow Records.
the new shining

Dutch 3 piece alternative pop rock band The New Shining will release an acoustic album called "Stripped" next spring on Johnny T Records. The first official single/video taken from the album is "Breaking The Spell". The video was shot on location "Huys ten Donck" by Crossmarkpictures.com. Watch it clicking on the left frame.

Sixteen years old Diamante Bovelli, from Boston, MA, could really be the next big thing in the modern pop world. According to the bio, she's a true musician and a prolific songwriter. Get to know her with the lyrics video for her single "Impossible", actually at the number one slot on the Independent Music Network Charts.

This is from the Fair To Midland camp: "After 7 amazing years of playing with Fair To Midland, our bassist Jon Dicken has decided it was time for him to move on. We appreciate his hard work and dedication to the band, we love him, and wish him the best in all his future endeavors. Moving forward, we are excited to continue touring and making music. Unfortunately, however, this has resulted in the cancellation of our European/UK dates in November. We want to send our sincerest apologies to our European friends and fans from across the pond. We will be regrouping in the following weeks and in the meantime we thank you all for your patience and understanding".
Mainstream heavy rock band Sugar Red Drive from Poughkeepsie, New York, will release their new work "A Story Of Signs" on November, 1st. Thanks to the help of such luminaries as Skidd Mills (Saving Abel, Sick Puppies, Saliva, 12 Stones) and Brain Howes (Hinder, Daughtry, Puddle Of Mudd), the upcoming album has already spawned two succesfull singles: "Marching Man" (watch the official video here) and "No Apologies" (watch the image-made video here).
our lady peace

The one you can watch clicking on the left image, is a new, special video by great canadian rock band Our Lady Peace. It's a song that supports the Fight The Good Fight cause. More info on the dedicated site and on the O.L.P. site, where you can also download the track for free.

PK are a band from San Luis Obispo, CA. They're influenced by the likes of The Killers, Saves The Day, Bruce Springsteen and Vampire Weekend. You can watch today's video premiere for the single "Berelain" here, and download the track for free, together with an acoustic rendition of the song "London", from their facebook page.

Formed at Louisiana State University by LSU students, Better Than Ezra has been making great rock music for over 20 years. The band members' Tiger Pride burns as brightly now as it did when they were working their way toward stardom. Better Than Ezra goes back to their roots with the release of their "Death Valley EP" on October 18th. The record features a modern twist on traditional tailgating songs popularized by The Golden Band from Tigerland. "LSU football has been a part of our DNA since our first practice just off campus in 1988 and we always talked about recording our favorite game day tracks BTE style. The songs on this ep are iconic to not only LSU's Tiger Band but were originally pop songs from the 50s, 60s, and 80s. For us to be able to come back to LSU and record the songs is a dream come true" says bass player Tom Drummond. Also included on the EP are Better Than Ezra's original songs "This Time Of Year" and "Hell No!", inspired by LSU football and their time at the University. Preview and buy the EP on iTunes now, and listen to "Chinese Bandits" here.
I talked to you a month ago about The Dreaming, featuring ex-members of Stabbing Westward. Now I can present you the video for the single "Every Trace" (watch it here). Moreover, you can stream their new album "Puppet" in its entirity at this link.
Tracer is an australian band with a reminiscent sound of 90's grunge/stoner rock mixed with the everlasting bravado of 70's classic rock. Their debut album "Spaces In Between" was released last October 3rd and features the hard-hitting single "Too Much", that you can download for free here. And this is the video for the song. Enjoy.
News, news and more news venerdì, 28 ottobre 2011 22:20 by madseason
I've some interesting news that I had to leave behind due to the server upgrade. I'll try to claw them back in a couple of posts. First of all, the mandatory Blue October news: their upcoming emotion drenched single, "The Feel Again (Stay)", has been chosen as the soundtrack to the closing film for this year’s three day (31st Oct – 2nd Nov) UK Radio Festival. "The Feel Again (Stay)", a powerful, poignant song about loss and heartbreak, is the perfect musical backdrop to an obit film which looks back and remembers all the people from the radio industry who have passed away in the last twelve months. Speaking of the texan band, I can confirm that their last american tour partners IAmDynamite will be the opening band of the upcoming Blue October's german shows.
Electronic/dream poppers M83 have a brand new video out, for the single "Midnight City", off their last week released new (double) studio album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming". Directed by Fleur & Manu, the video is a tribute to "Village of the Damned", "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and "Akira". Enjoy it here. Also, M83 announced more live dates, in addiction to the scandinavian ones presented at the beginning of this week. This time the dates are in Germany, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. Head on to their website for further info.
young guns

"Learn My Lesson" is the first single/video off Young Guns sophomore record, to be released early next year. For those who still don't know them yet, Young Guns are an interesting english alternative rock band coming from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Watch the video clicking on the image on the left.

Hurricane Bells have released their new, PledgeMusic financed, album last Tuesday. It's titled "Tides And Tales" and you can preview and buy it on Hurricane Bells' Bandcamp page. And do not forget Hurricane Bells' new video for the single "The Ghost Of Her", released just one month ago.

Behind the moniker Smoke Signals we find Coley O’Toole, Joe Ballaro and Zac Clark from the great eclectic piano rock band The Queen Killing King. The new album, named as the band "Smoke Signals", is out since last August. The band describes it as a collection of "blues and bluegrass infused songs with stick-to-your-ribs melodies and high harmonies". This is a different sound that I invite to know, listening to the whole record here, and watching the video for the single "Black Holes (featuring Rocco DeLuca)"at this link.
Christian alternative poprock stars Jars Of Clay have been writing songs and reinventing their sound for 17 years. Many music fans still remember them for their succesfully first single "Flood", but there's much more to be mined in their 11 albums catalog. Their new collection "Gather And Build" is a playlist that features a handful of quintessential Jars Of Clay songs, as well as some previously unavailable tracks. Get it for free thanks to NoiseTrade here.
Download "Are You There", a nice track from Vancouver alternative rock band Fear Zero last album "Whole Damn Nation", for free at this address: www.theprovince.com.
Daughtry's new video for "Crawling Back To You" premiered yesterday. As said, the single's off the band's upcoming album "Break The Spell", produced by Howard Benson and to be released November, 21st through RCA Records.
monte negro

Los Angeles based, original bi-lingual rock band, Monte Negro (a band I really dig) has just released the single "Zero", which is an exciting prelude to what will be Monte Negro's new album release in early 2012: "Replica I". Watch the very entertaining video clicking on the image on the left.

Watch new music video for "Fire Escape", Matthew Mayfield's third single from his debut album "Now You're Free". The video for the song (co-written by John Paul White of The Civil Wars) also features the lovely actress Brittany Snow. Matthew is also giving you the chance to download his album for free: just follow this link.

Another new video: this is for contemporary christian singer/songwriter Plumb's new single "Drifting" featuring both Tiffany and Dan Haseltine of Jars Of Clay. Check it here. News about the new album coming soon!
Download a supercatchy new song from Plain White T's named "The House On Shady Lane" at this link. For free, of course.
You can watch the live stream of Zornik's sold out exclusive anniversary show at Ancienne Belgique (Bruxelles) tomorrow October 29th at 20.45 (Center European Time). Just follow this link: Zornik live.
Republic Of Letters is a cool San Diego based poprock band in Coldplay/The Killers style. They released their "Stories" album last March for Mass + Measure Records and this is the video for the single "Entre Chien Et Loup (Restless Hour)", shot and edited by Jared Armijo-Wardlean.

upgrade

Hi, weChameleon's friends. We're back after a server upgrade by our provider that took more time than we were said. Things that happen too often in IT, as most of you may have experienced.

Now that we a have a new platoform, we'll work on some new features that you're gonna see in the coming months. For now, it's business as usual.

Thank you for your patience.

THE FRAY: new single now, new album next year venerdì, 21 ottobre 2011 00:45 by madseason
the fray

"Heartbeat" is the title of the new single by american rock band from Denver, Colorado The Fray. The song has been released a few days ago, and you can stream it at the band's website now. I have to say that this is the kind of song that I would have welcomed on the new Coldplay album. But later of this.

The Fray's new album, to be released on February, 7th 2012, is named "Scars And Stories", after a B-side that did not make it onto the new record. For their third studio album, The Fray chose to change producer, switching from the Aaron Johnson/Mike Flynn duo to the superstar Brendan O'Brien.

During a recent interview, the band revealed that they used part of the album's budget to travel and see the world before recording "Scars And Stories". For instance, "Heartbeat" was inspired by a trip to Rwanda, and the tracks "Munich" and "Rainy Zurich" were inspired by their journey to those european locations.
