DARREN HAYES' Secret Codes And Battleships venerdì, 9 dicembre 2011 16:50 by madseason
darren hayes

I don't know if the name Darren Hayes rings some bells to you, but I'm sure that if I say Savage Garden you recognize them at once. Well, Warren was half of the Australian pop-rock duo (the other half being Daniel Jones), that was made famous by lucky singles as "To The Moon And Back", "Truly Madly Deeply", "The Animal Song" and "I Knew I Loved You".   After the two Platinum awarded albums with Savage Garden, Warren started a brilliant solo career and sold 5 million albums, to be added to the 34 million sold in the SG years.

"Secret Codes And Battleships" is his fourth studio album, produced by Carl Falk and released last October 21st on Mercury Records in Australia, on EMI Records in the United Kingdom and on his own label Powdered Sugar for the rest of the world.

I think that this new album is probably his best one as a solo artist: it's eclectic and homogeneous at the same time, modern sounding but with one foot in the eighties for what concern the songwriting; it's full of catchy pop gems, perfectly crafted, arranged, played, mixed and produced.
But stop with the talking, and let's start listening: here's the first single/video off the album, "Talk Talk Talk"; the second one "Bloodstained Heart"; the last one so far, "Black Out The Sun". And if you like these tracks, be warned: there are even better songs on offer!

BLUE OCTOBER's singer UK tour mercoledì, 7 dicembre 2011 22:52 by madseason
Justin Furstenfeld

I've just read on 78Triple6 that Justin Furstenfeld, frontman of the mighty Blue October, will be touring the UK for an acoustic tour in March of 2012. So far only three dates have been announced but I understand that more dates would be announced soon.

This is great news, and come just a few days after the one attesting that BBC's Radio 2 Playlist has added Blue October's "The Feel Again (Stay)" to its A List, with the likes of Adele, Amy Winehouse, Beyoncé and Katy Perry!

And the music video for "The Feel Again (Stay)" is Top 10 on the UK's most popular rock and metal station Scuzz TV!

It seems that things are starting to going great for Justin & Co. in UK. Well deserved!

canon logic

Canon Logic are an indie poprock band from Brooklyn, NY, influenced by the likes of ELO, The Who, Beach Boys, Radiohead, The Strokes, The Killers, Arcade Fire. You can find this mix of old and new styles in their most recent EP called "Rapid Empire", released through Engine Room Recordings at the very end of last August.

The sound of Canon Logic is lively, melodic, with lots of harmony layers; easy to listen without being predictable, it wraps you around and never let you go.
