NEWSBOYS say: "God's Not Dead" sabato, 19 novembre 2011 12:49 by madseason
With the Christmas festivities rapidly approaching, I find appropriate to present you an album full of positivity, joy, hope and highness of spirit. No, it's not one of the hundreds of X-Mas EPs that are infesting the shops these days (how sad...), but the new worship album by Newsboys.
For those who don't them, Newsboys are a CCM poprock group founded in 1985 in Mooloolaba, Australia. They have scored 14 studio albums so far, six of which have been certified gold.
Newsboys

They have just put out for Inpop Records their new album "God's Not Dead", the follow up to their massively successful "Born Again", which was released last year and debuted at number 4 on the main Billboard 200 chart.

Perfectly produced by Seth Mosley, the new record features 9 brilliant cover songs of christian anthems and 3 new original songs. Ok, there are maybe too much "Jesus here, Jesus there" for my tastes, but, beyond that, this is a very nice, uplifting, fresh pop-rock album, with great musicianship and songs delivered with the right dose of passion and intensity by ex-DC Talk singer Michael Tait.

You can download the first single, the title-track, for free at the band's website, where you can also stream a minute of all the songs of the record.

The Maine

One of the last interesting album of 2011 will be "Pioneer" by Arizona poprockers The Maine. It is the third full-length record by the band and will be released independently on December 6th, through the group's label, Action Theory Records, with distribution ensured by Warner Distribution.

Produced by Colby Wedgeworth (Burn Halo, Lybecker, The Seeking) and mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers, Chris Isaak, Shakira, Just Jinjer, Better Than Ezra), "Pioneer" features the already released singles "Don't Give Up On (Us)" and "Some Days". You can download the first one for free at the band's facebook page, where you can also listen to the second one.

young the giant

Young The Giant are an interesting american alternative rock band that formed in Irvine, California, in 2004. Formerly known as The Jakes, Young The Giant was signed by Roadrunner Records in 2009 and released their eponymous debut album, produced by Grammy-winner Joe Chicarelli (Counting Crows, Manchester Orchestra, Big Talk, U2, Jamie Cullum, Tori Amos) almost one year ago.

To help promoting their 2012 North American Headlinetour, the band is releasing through NoiseTrade an EP consisting of 8 remixes of tracks featured on the "Young The Giant" album.

The EP is FREE and you can download it by clicking on the image on the left.

FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE: a road video for A Road Song martedì, 15 novembre 2011 17:28 by madseason
fountains of wayne

It's not a mystery that Fountains Of Wayne's new album "Sky Full Of Holes", released last July, is one of my favourites of this year. After the videos for "Someone's Gonna Break Your Heart" and "The Summer Place", here is, thanks to Amazon, the new one for "A Road Song".

It's a typical road clip, for a simple, yet passionate, track. I expecially like the passage "I know it's not what you'd call necessary / And I know that I'm no Steve Perry / But even if you roll your eyes and groan/ I'm still writing you a road song / That you can call your own". Enjoy the video clicking on the image.

KASHMIR Katalogue 1991-2011 lunedì, 14 novembre 2011 22:49 by madseason
Kashmir

I already talked about these 4 danish guys in the 1.0 version of the site. They're stars in their home country, where they reached multi-platinum status. Kashmir, that named their band after the Led Zeppelin song, play melancholic pop in Coldplay, Keane, Travis and Saybia style mixed with a sort of electro-poprock similar to the one of their country fellows Carpark North, just less thunderous.

After 6 studio album, 5 EPs, a live album and many singles, it's time for the danish to release a 2-cd career spanning collection that features 32 songs, including bonus tracks of previous records, studio versions of only-live tracks (so far) and two brand new numbers called "Electrified Love" and "Evermore", the first being the official single off this compilation (preview it here).

"Katalogue 1991-2011" is already out for Columbia/Sony, so go get it now: it's a nice way to get introduced to this brilliant band.
