iTunes Festival 2011 domenica, 10 luglio 2011 16:37 by madseason

Better late than never: iTunes Festival is back with 60 artists to perform 31 consecutive nights at the iconic Roundhouse venue in London during this month of July.

Among the groups in the list you can find Manic Street Preachers, Linkin Park, Neon Trees, Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World, The Script, White Lies, Friendly Fires and Coldplay.

What's really interesting about this festival is that every ticket is free -you can win a pair of tickets to any performance by entering a prize draws- and, if you can't attend the shows at the Roundhouse, you can watch them live with iTunes on your computer, or with the iTunes Festival app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

You can also watch past performances anytime. Visit the iTunes Festival 2011 site to learn how and for a complete schedule of the event.
Right now I'm watching the Manic Street Preachers performance of last Sunday (see a clip of the title track of the last album above). And I'll do all that I can to follow tomorrow's performance of Foo Fighters and Jimmy Eat World. Don't lose 'em! (thanks to max onny arena for the tip)

Paradise according to GOODNIGHT ARGENT venerdì, 8 luglio 2011 15:35 by madseason
I realized I haven't talked about one of the best new bands of the year yet. I'll settle this now: Goodnight ARgent is an alternative pop band from Pasco, WA, influenced by the likes of OneRepublic, Maroon5, Andrew Belle, Erik Hassle and Coldplay.
The band -Chase Thompson (vocals, keys) and Tyler McMullen (vocals, guitar), with Andrew Luttrell on bass and Michael Bjur on drums- took the Grand Prize in the John Lennon International Songwriting Competition, and also received awards from both the Billboard and the International Songwriting Competition.

And it's really no hard to understand why. Just listen to the single "Battlegrounds" once, and let the wonderful melody, the wise arrangements, the haunting refrain conquer you.

The "Ignorance Is Paradise" EP's been released last March for SoulFound Entertainment and believe me, there's no sign of a bad track in it!

The opener "Vagabond", the title track, "Don't Get Sentimental", "Devil's Own Daughter" could all become huge radio hits, thanks to their great, moving hooks, the quality of the songwriting and the craftsmanship of the players.

Please listen to their music now on their Facebook page or on their webpage at goodnightargent.com.

Rising stars: DARIUS LUX mercoledì, 6 luglio 2011 16:25 by madseason
darius lux

Darius Lux is an eclectic multi-instrumentalist, producer and performer from Los Angeles, California.

I knew about him just a few weeks ago thanks to his publicists, but his last EP titled "Time Is Now" is already one of my favorite EPs of the moment.

What strikes me the most about Darius is the maturity that transpires from his music: he sounds like a seasoned artist, while he's still a young guy. Pop, r&b, funk, blues, rock... Darius seems to feel comfortable with every kind of music and delivers every song with soul and passion.

The Maroon 5 tinged "Way That It Goes" and the piano led "What I Feel" (what a great organ break!) are my favorite tracks of the EP, but you should definitely listen to every single track on the menu.

Darius Lux is without a doubt a talented artist that will do great things in the coming future, thanks to his class and versatility.
I urge you to check him out on Facebook and at his publicists page now: discover a star on his rising!

"It's a label that has a history of consistently putting out good music and really working side by side with their artists. Because we've been doing this thing on our own for over two years, it feels great to partner with Tooth & Nail."

Icon For Hire worked in the studios with famed producer Aaron Sprinkle (Anberlin, Mae, Eisley, Jeremy Camp, Falling Up, Kutless) to formulate their sound of combining heavy, rock-oriented sounds and modern pop elements with a strong focus on the production.

The album, titled "Scripted", is set to be released on August, 23. Meanwhile, you can check out they're new single "Make A Move" on their myspace page.

Oldies but goldies for HOWIE DAY lunedì, 4 luglio 2011 20:47 by madseason
howie day

After parting ways with Epic Records earlier this year, Howie Day found a bunch of tracks on his hard drive that the fans had never heard before, as for some reason or another they never made it on to an album.

Howie decided to put together an EP called "Ceasefire" with a few of his favorites, while he works on new material for release later this year.

You can get the EP at iTunes, or order it directly from Howie's website for a little cheaper. At the website you can also order a physical version of the EP. Howie will sign all the physcial CDs, and they should ship on July 15th.

My two cents: this is a very good EP, Howie should have used these tracks before. If you like his music, buy it pronto.
