Two months ago I wrote a post about the brilliant Alabama-born singer-songwriter Matthew Mayfield  and his first solo album "Now You're Free".

As you may guess, I've been waiting for this since the release of the track: the video for "The Chills", the first single off "Any Man In America", Blue October's new studio album to be released on August 16th on Up/Down Records with the production of Tim Palmer (click on the YouTube logo to enlarge).

The song "Drive All Night" by NEEDTOBREATHE has been recently added to the new christian singles releases. Its'a very nice, moving track that you can hear right now by clicking here.

"Drive All Night" is the second new song released from the upcoming new NEEDTOBREATHE's studio album "The Reckoning", out next September, 20th through Atlantic Records. The first, "Slumber", was weChameleon's song of the week a while ago. If you've missed it, retrieve it here.

Download a free song from "The Sea Of Memories", english rock band Bush's first studio album in ten years, since 2001's "Golden State".

Another great band to release a live EP from their excellent show at the iTunes Festival 2011 is Foo Fighters.

Remember the american alternative poprock band The Last Goodnight? They became quite famous with "Pictures Of You", the lucky single from their major label debut "Poison Kiss".

They disappeared after being dropped by Virgin records; now vocalist Kurtis John Henneberry returns to the scene with a 6-tracks EP simply called "Kurtis John", written and produced with the help of his long-time and long-term music-making partner -and fellow The Last Goodnight collaborator and bandmate- Michael Nadeau.

The EP's been released yesterday and you can buy it now at kurtisjohn.com or at iTunes.

Popfilter is a project set up by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Chris Anderson with the help of various friends.

Chris & Co. released "Pop This!" a few months ago: a 10-tracks brilliant debut album mainly produced by cult hero Bleu with assistance from Ducky Carlisle.

And let me mention the presence, as a guest player and producer on "Someone To Trust" of the late Will Owsley, who passed away last year at the age of 44.

From the name of the band and the title of the record, you can easily imagine what's the heart of the matter, here: pop. Or, better, powerpop!

Jack's Mannequin will release their new record "People And Things" on October 4th, 2011, via Sire Records.

The first single from the upcoming album, "My Racing Thoughts" will be available via iTunes and all other digital service providers on August 2nd, 2011. Meanwhile, you can listen to it here.

"People And Things", considered by band leader and former Something Corporate frontman Andrew McMahon "a relationship record", is the californian outfit's third studio set, and follows "The Glass Passenger" released in 2008 and "The Dear Jack EP" released in 2009.
