Hot nights with SAHARA HOTNIGHTS domenica, 5 giugno 2011 18:20 by madseason
sahara hotnights

Sahara Hotnights are a swedish rock band composed of 4 girls (Maria Andersson - lead vocals, guitar; Jennie Asplund - guitar, backing vocals; Johanna Asplund - bass, backing vocals; Josephine Forsman - drums) that started their band in the beginning of the nineties, when they were just children, and debuted with an EP in 1997.

Their music, originally described as a mix between Blondie, The Ramones and Nirvana has, with time, veered to a more poppy sound, as their just released self-titled sixth full-length album can attest.

The new record is also my first approach with the band, and all I can say is that these girls are damn hot! I'll go hunting for their previous albums asap.

Listen to "Let You Down", the first single from "Sahara Hotnights", on youtube, and get some other tastes of the four swedes' rock at their website. Nice finding!

Reverence for THE TENDER BOX sabato, 4 giugno 2011 14:45 by madseason

The Tender Box are a rock band inspired by the post punk and synth pop groups of the 1980s.

All of the band members are of mexican american descent and grew up in the South East of Los Angeles, where they met and formed a band in high school.

Last April they released their first album "Reverence", produced by Jack Douglas (New York Dolls, Aerosmith, Michael Monroe) for Swing House Quality Recordings.

Here on the left you can watch the video for the first single off "Reverence", called "Crashing Down". Very good song and nice video!

All That GOO GOO DOLLS Are venerdì, 3 giugno 2011 14:24 by madseason
goo goo dolls all that you are

Buffalo's legendary melodic rockers Goo Goo Dolls will release a new single on June, 14th.

Called "All That You Are", the song is taken from the soundtrack of the highly-anticipated film "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" (the sequel to "Transformers" and "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen", in theatres from July, 1st).

"All That You Are" is at radios right now, and you can listen to it at the band official website.

My point: frankly, it's the same old song and dance... I used to be a great fan of the GGDs, but now I have enough of all these trite, predictable midtempos that sound pretty much all the same.

However, click on the link above and judge by yourselves.

FOO FIGHTERS Walk giovedì, 2 giugno 2011 23:50 by madseason

This is Foo Fighters' new video for "Walk", the second single from the recently released "Wasting Light".

Directed by Sam Jones, the video is imbued with the sense of humor Dave Grohl and mates are famous for.

You can also catch "Walk" in a great performance Live on Letterman.

Released last April, "Wasting Light" received positive reviews from most music critics and reached the top ten in almost every chart in the world, including the number one spots in the US Billboard 200, the UK Albums Chart and the German Albums Chart.

Enjoy!

The GALLERY new ep and free download martedì, 31 maggio 2011 21:42 by madseason

The Gallery are an interesting indie folk rock band from Wilbraham, Massachusetts. They released their new EP "Come Alive" last February, produced by Warren Huart (The Fray, Augustana, Better Than Ezra, Vedera, James Blunt).

From their official bio:

"The Gallery's hook-laden rock songs combine a mix of mainstream appeal and professionalism with indie cred and likeability. Their brand of guitar-driven, southern-infused pop rock blurs the lines between authenticity and commerciality, producing songs that are refined and disarmingly catchy.

A subtly biting guitar sound, simple, road-worn lyricism and consistently sharp musicianship transform their tracks into instantly memorable pop gems you don’t want out of your head."

You can stream the whole EP at Liisten, where you can also download the track "Ballroom Of Broken Hearts" for free.

PARACHUTE The Way It Was: my point lunedì, 30 maggio 2011 14:16 by madseason

So here we are with the much anticipated Parachute's new album, "The Way It Was", officially released a couple of weeks ago on Mercury Records and excellently produced by expert engineer, producer and multi-instrumentalist John Fields (Switchfoot, the Goo Goo Dolls, Rooney, P!nk, Paper Tongues...).

Despite the label of "next big thing" stuck on this five guys from Virginia by the "people that count" in the business and a lot of live work, their very good debut album "Losing Sleep" wasn't a huge success.

parachute the way it was

The new album is quite close in style to the debut's one: skillful adult pop-rock with a lot of catchy, well crafted tunes and no signs of a sophomore slump. The new songs are just a little "simpler" in the musical approach:

"The music is very intentional, to make more with a lot less. If a song didn’t need any electric guitar, then we didn’t add it"

says guitar player Nate McFarland.

The result is another amusing, very enjoyable Train-like record, perfect for your lazy summer's afternoons.

"The Way It Was" debuted at number one on the iTunes Rock Chart and on number 19 on the Billboard 200 top-selling albums, so if things turn out as they have started...

If you're new to Parachute, you can listen to a couple of new songs clicking here.
