Rising stars: AFTERLIFE PARADE lunedì, 18 luglio 2011 01:54 by madseason
Let me introduce you a little known band from Nashville, TN... Afterlife Parade is the young creature of talented singer/songwriter Quinn Erwin. As a solo artist, Quinn has been writing and performing for the past 12 years. He released his first EP in 2009 followed by a full length in 2010. Most recently, he was the Grand Prize Winner of the 2010 Jansport Battle of the Bands.
Released on January 31, 2011 and produced by Jeremy McCoy (bass player for The Fray), Afterlife Parade's debut EP "Death" is the first in a two-part concept album of sorts.

The songs focus on fate, the end of the world, the death of an ideal, and the comfort from the dying to the loved ones they leave behind.

"Death" is an interesting EP of alternative and melodic rock tracks with a slight U2ish vibe, all delivered with great passion.

Each of the five songs (+ intro) is an element of a dark, soulful, hypnotic soundscape: a mesmerizing experience indeed, and a record that grows on you after repeated listenings.

According to Quinn, the companion EP "Rebirth", to be released on August 8, 2011, is the exact opposite of "Death": upbeat, percussive and a bit electronic. I'll talk to you about it later. Meanwhile, head on to Afterlife Parade bandcamp site, enjoy their music and become a friend of the group through their facebook page!

BLUE OCTOBER: some great interviews venerdì, 15 luglio 2011 21:30 by madseason
justin

I want to signal a couple of very good interviews to Justin Furstenfeld, frontman of Blue October. The first (and the best) is on 102.1 The Edgethe second is on ultimateGuitar.com and the third is on 97X online.

So, if you wanna know everything about the new album "Any Man In America" (out next month), Justin's custody battles, bipolar disorder, guitars and guitar players, you know what to do.

A little extract from one of the interviews: "I've been on the rock scene for quite a while and I love the rock scene but I just don't like all the rock bands. I love Nickelback but you've got to write a new song, bro; I've heard the same one 50 times. If you wanna be a rich band and that's what you want out of life that's cool; I'm in it for the art. I don't need to be rich; I just need to put diapers on my baby and make sure my girlfriend's cool and I'm straight."

SOUNDS UNDER RADIO fan video giovedì, 14 luglio 2011 17:30 by madseason

This is a very nice fan-made, stop motion music video of the song "Fire Escape", included in Sounds Under Radio's album, "Where My Communist Heart Meets My Capitalist Mind".

According to the creator of the video, Will Hoffman, the band's manager, asked him if he wanted to make a clip for the song "Fire Escape", and what you can see on the left is the finished product.

Released last May 3rd through The Musebox (with distribution via EMI) "Where My Communist Heart Meets My Capitalist Mind" is the second album for the alternative rock band from Austin, Texas.

AWOLNATION Sail live mercoledì, 13 luglio 2011 00:30 by madseason

AWOLNATION have just released a live video of their lucky single "Sail", shot during a recent performance at La Zona Rosa in Austin, Texas.

For those who don't know them, they're the solo project of Aaron Bruno, formerly of Under the Influence of Giants and Hometown Hero.

AWOLNATION released their first full-length album "Megalithic Symphony" last March via Red Bull Records. Their music blends various influences together -synth pop, indie rock, hip-hop, punk rock and a lot more- and, oddly enough, all this merging of styles really works.

Judge by yourselves listening to some more music at their website or at their facebook page.
