VIKINGO! - Set It On Fire

Good old fashioned rock n' roll finds its new home with a modern twist in the LA rockers VIKINGO!'s debut EP Set It On Fire.

Two Colombians, a Norwegian, and an American band together to package their collective annoyance of issues like environmental policies, immigration, equality and more in their new hard-hitting EP. Referencing personal struggles and past experiences, Set It On Fire aims to incite rebellion against the shallow and ludicrous.

"The Set It On Fire EP means a lot to us because it's our friendship in rock n' roll form," said VIKINGO!. "We've all been in the music business for a while and rock n' roll has always been the link that's connected us. We produced, recorded and mixed it ourselves with the intention of making something that would be truly rock n' roll. That is, we wanted to make something truly rebellious and not canned."

Set It On Fire was recorded at the famed 4th Street Recording (Muse, The Beach Boys, Bad Suns) and was mastered by Dale Becker (Macklemore, Neil Diamond). Jeff Henderson, accomplished storyboard artist with credits such as Inception and After Earth, designed the notable Set It On Fire cover art.

Set It On Fire was released last August 17. Stream/download it clicking on the cover image.

Indigo: WILD NOTHING go out of time Friday, 31 August 2018 21:30 by madseason
Wild Nothing - Letting Go

Indigo is the title of Wild Nothing's fourth studio album, released today, August 31, via the independent label Captured Tracks.

The album is produced by visual artist/producer Jorge Elbrecht (Ariel Pink, Japanese Breakfast, Frankie Rose) with Jack Tatum, the man behind the moniker Wild Nothing.

I wanted it to sound like a classic studio record, as close as I could get it there. It just boils down to me wanting to fit into some larger narrative, musically, in terms of these artists I love," Jack said about Indigo. "The records that have influenced the actual sound of Indigo are by Roxy Music, Kate Bush, and Fleetwood Mac; Roxy Music's Avalon is one of my favorite records ever. I think about how my music will age. Ideas of ‘timeless’ are going to be different - so if Indigo is not timeless then it's at least 'out of time.'"

A natural progression from Wild Nothing's previous work, Indigo is a state-of-the-art dream-pop album, a must not only for lovers of the genre, but for everybody with a crack for seductive melodies and layered textures.

Kaleido are on the road as part of the Summer Soul Collection Tour with September Mourning to support the release.

Get Naked with HUNGER Monday, 27 August 2018 22:08 by madseason
HUNGER - Naked

Many of you should already know Austrian alt/synth-pop band HUNGER from the 2018 Mitsubishi commercial or a feature on Netflix's 13 Reasons Why.

HUNGER hails from the idyllic suburbs of Vienna and formed in early 2014. Childhood friends, Daniel Rumpel and Johannes Herbst approached long-term fellow vocalist Lucas Fendrich with the intention of creating a truly dark and cinematic sound. Once they'd developed a batch of demos, the three musicians headed to the outskirts of Vienna, built up a studio in a borrowed apartment and brought their sound to life.

HUNGER have a brand new single out. Released last August 24, it's called Naked and was produced by Daniele Autore, mixed by Jeremy Wheatley (Depeche Mode, Taylor Swift) and mastered by Joe La Porta (Imagine Dragons, Panic! at the Disco, The Neighborhood).

A moody, melodic blend of synth-pop and alt-rock, Naked embodies a deeply visceral cinematic experience. The Austrian musicians offer heavy beats overtop layered harmonics to give a positive piece of their reality to society's effervescent negativity in their new single.

"People tend to question themselves if they’re good enough, good looking or smart enough while being put into boxes from other people,” explains the band. “Constant judgment in our society these days create a lot of pressure, especially on young people.

Naked is a true gem for lovers of synth-driven pop rock. Check it out now clicking on the image.

Royal Teeth - Never Gonna Quit

American indie pop rockers Royal Teeth have announced their return with the anthemic new single Never Gonna Quit along with an accompanying music video that features Valerie Sassyfrass of the viral sensation Girl's Night Out" performance showcased previously on Ellen.

Never Gonna Quit is the first single from the band's new album to be released late 2018/early 2019.

Never Gonna Quit is the new trademark motto for the band. "It became the mission statement for the whole album," explains vocalist Gary Larsen. "It felt like we just hit restart. We didn't want to compare anything we were doing to anything we had done. We love that you can feel the aggression and the sense of urgency but it never loses its purpose or joy."
